Alexa replaced with an ESP32 and Claude that runs the whole house
An ESP32 voice assistant backed by Claude now handles the lights, aircon, dishwasher, timers and shopping list that Alexa used to.

Juan Pessolani has swapped his Alexa for an ESP32 that talks to Claude, and says it covers everything Alexa did and a bit more. It plays music, controls the lights, air conditioning, air purifiers, cameras and dishwasher, sets timers, keeps the shopping list and announces over the speakers when food is ready.
The ESP32 is the microphone and speaker end; the model itself runs in the cloud. It’s also been fed the manuals for the household gadgets, plus bills and other important documents, so you can ask it how something works instead of hunting for the PDF. There’s a smaller touch controller for when talking is awkward, and Home Assistant or a Telegram bot as fallbacks.
There’s no code or parts list yet, so this is one to study rather than copy. The post is in Spanish and has a short demo video. See Juan’s post on X for the original.
